Abstract


This paper aims to determine the impact of humor as a teaching and learning strategy in the Literacy skills program on increasing the number of visits to the Library of the University of North Sumatra. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach with a sample size of 100 people, namely new students who had participated in the Literacy Skill program and visited the USU Library. The data collection using questionnaires, interviews and documentation study. The results showed that humor as a teaching and learning strategy in the Literacy skills program had a positive and significant impact on increasing the number of visits to the Library of the University of North Sumatra. The use of examples of real-life humor in literacy classes shows that Instructors have succeeded in providing a set of best practices and strategies by incorporating comedy into library instruction sessions, e.g., silly examples, animations/cartoons, storytelling, into their own context with minimal risk. Based on a sense of humor in the form as a teaching this techniques will helps introduce more, promote the library environment and promote visits and use of library resources.
