Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases remain huge global health problems especially in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia. Moreover, climate change and million people travelling across the globe lead to higher risk in spreading of infectious diseases. The world indeed faces those challenges, thus, we are urged to improve and update our knowledge and skill, as well as to collaborate with colleagues from other fields.
The 1st International Conference on Tropical Medicine and Infectious Disease (ICTROMI) was held on 15th-18th November 2017 hosted by Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sumatera Utara in conjunction with The Indonesian Society of Tropical and Infectious Diseases Consultant (ISTIC) 23rd National Congress. The 4-days-conference ran well and was delivered by well-known international and national speakers. Approximately 500 people participated in this conference and a total of 228 high-quality papers were presented and are ongoing publication process on IOP Conference Series: Earth & Environmental Science, a remarkable Scopus-indexed conference proceeding.
To continue the success and positive values of the 1st ICTROMI, Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sumatera Utara will conduct the conference annually. This year, Department of Community Medicine will be the host of the 2nd ICTROMI with the theme “Tropical and Infectious Disease: Prediction, Prevention, Diagnosis and Management of Illnesses.”. Keynote speakers, plenary lectures, workshops, and symposia will be delivered by both well-known international and national speakers in the field of tropical medicine, infectious diseases, family medicine, public health, research, and precision medicine.
