Abstract

The incidence of Dengue virus infection is increasing every year and the progression of the disease is faster towards severe manifestations in infants than in children and adults. Clinical appearance is still very difficult to make for the diagnosis of dengue fever, so routine blood examination becomes one of further enforcement efforts. The gold standard for dengue diagnosis is serological testing, but this examination would be difficult in remote areas and also cost more. Research on serological testing and its association with routine blood testing in infant dengue infection patients is still less publicized. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to describe the association between serological and routine blood test results of infant dengue infection patients in RSUP DR.Hasan Sadikin. Research with observational design in dengue baby patients examined serologic test and routine blood examination. Samples of 56 infants with 2-12 months age range. The results showed that serological testing tended to be performed on routine blood tests. This can be seen from differences in routine blood tests such as hemoglobin, hematocrit, and platelets. In addition, there was also no difference in routine blood profile between reactive and non-reactive IgM groups. This suggests that routine blood examination results are still lacking for the diagnosis of dengue.
