Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) is novel network communication paradigm which extend the current Internet to incorporate objects (things) in everyday life such as sensors, RFID, actuators, and vehicles. It enables these objects to communicate, sharing information, and execute actions, made them become the “smart†objects [1]. Recently, IoT concept has been applied to develop smart cities [2], healthcare and ambient assisted living, which include systems that can support elderly people in their daily life [3]. There are some IoT applications that can benefit the elderly people, for example, health monitoring system and fall detection system. In this paper, we design a control system using Jasper IoT platform running on a single-board computer (Raspberry Pi 2), Arduino Uno and Arduino Yún microcontroller boards that can help people easily control home appliances.
