Emerging Research in Computer Science and Information Technology in Digital Transformation

Over the past few years, the relentless advancements in technology have revolutionized the way we live, work, and interact in modern society. From the way we communicate and access information to the methods we use for conducting business and engaging in entertainment, the digital landscape has become a significant part of our lifestyle. This digital transformation has not only impacted the individual level but has also brought about sweeping changes on a global scale. WHile these transformation offers advantage to our society, it also presented its own set of challenges and concerns. As our reliance on digital systems grows, it is responsibility to safeguard its use to benefit the society. Issues related to data privacy, cybersecurity, misinformation, and the impact of recent AI technology are some of the main topics that needed to be observed, discussed, and improved.

The International Conference on Computing and Applied Informatics 2024 is aimed to facilitate researchers to improve their research. The objective of this event is to provide an environment for participating researchers to communicate, discuss, and collaborate in this event. As the host of this prestigious event, The Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universitas Sumatera Utara, would like to invite fellow researchers and academia all around the world to participate and collaborate.

Theme: "A New World of Research: Sustainable Research in a Digital World"

The recent event of pandemic has transformed our life significantly. We are required to embrace new normals and new standards in our way of living. To perform this transformation, research played a significant role to introduce new innovations in order to speed up the process. However, planning and performing a sustainable research in this changing environment were also a challenge. Researchers were required to adapt their way to perform collaboration and communication. During this transformaiton, we have introduced several innovation such as concept, methods, and tools, to maintain a sustainable research.


The Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universitas Sumatera Utara, is inviting all researchers to present their work in The 6th International Confrence on Computing and Applied Informatics 2022. Our objective is to provide an environment where participating researchers are able to communicate, disscuiss, and collaborate in this event. In this conference, researchers are invited to share their research and innovation while experiences and challenges in maintaining a sustainable research in a changing environment.

"The advancement of information technology allows rapid information exchange between individuals. In result, modern society tends to be more dynamic and requires frequent changes. Furthermore, the current condition requires society to change their behaviour. Interaction between individuals performed in the digital world has increased over the past few months. Furthermore, industries and organizations are required to use information technology in most of their processes to ensure the survivability of their bussiness. The need to perform digital transformation is accelerating at an immense speed. In order to meet these changes, researchers are in the front line to develop new innovations and drive the transformation.

These transformation however, must be performed respectfully and responsibly. Every innovation will eventually come at a cost. Thus, it is important to maintain a certain set of rules in performing a research and applying an innovation. Communication and collaboration amongst researchers are the key factors to enhance research process while maintaining the sustanability of the environment.

We invite all respected researchers to present their work in the The 5th International Conference on Computing and Applied Informatics 2020. In this conference, our focus is to redefine digital transformation for societal well being in a sustainable environment. Our objective is to provide an opportunity for researchers to present their research and discuss it's impact. Furthermore, we encourage researchers to perform a discussion and generate new ideas. The current trend of Industry 4.0 requires companies to perform significant transformation regarding the way they operate. It combines automation and communication technology to develop an effective and efficient production system. Furthermore, the capability to share data extensively between components, combined with the implementation of artificial intelligence, allows company to increase the speed of the production process and the flexibility to react to changes in the market. Consequently, companies are required to adopt these technologies to stay relevant in modern industry.

While the burden of adopting these changes depends on the company, it is up to researchers to introduce new products that may redefine the current technology. The ability of researches to innovate and collaborate extensively is important to develop new technologies. Thus, establishing a supportive environment that allows researchers to communicate and collaborate is crucial to maintaining and extending the sustainability of their researches.
Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universitas Sumatera Utara, is pleased to announce the 4th International Conference on Computing and Applied Informatics. International Conference on Computing and Applied Informatics (ICCAI) was initiated and organized by Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Sumatera Utara since 2016. This event aimed at providing opportunity to present and share the most recent and innovations in Computer Science, Information Technology and Engineering Research.

Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology is pleased to announce that The 3rd International Conference on Computing and Applied Informatics (ICCAI 2018) will be held in Medan, Indonesia on September 18-19, 2018. This event will provide a forum for researchers, scientists, engineers, students and practitioners from both academia as well as industry to discuss, share, exchange and to extend their knowledge, view and experience of new advances in Computer Science, Information Technology and Engineering Research.

We invite you to submit original research paper related to the conference’s topic and which have not been submitted or published by other conferences or journals. Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed and all accepted paper, which are presented in the ICCAI 2018, will be submitted to IOP Publisher to be published in Journal of Physics: Conference Series.

Papers from the previous ICCAI 2016 and 2017 have been published in Journal of Physics: Conference Series and indexed in Scopus.
